In the name of God, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

Sometimes it takes courage to speak your mind…in public.  Yet living in a post-911 world where the socio-political landscape is ever changing and cultural-religious opinions are becoming increasingly polarised, I find myself unable to keep quiet anymore. I am a woman. I am an American-African Muslim woman. However I prefer to address myself as a ‘Global’ woman. I hope to use this blog simply as a platform for reflections; the reflections of  a Muslim woman living in an increasingly religiously, culturally diverse world.  And yes, I will be commenting on  the status of Muslim women in contemporary society, tradition vs modernity,  interpretations of the Quran and Islamic traditions in modern society, and challenging the status quo on the definition of ‘the Muslim woman’.  I do not intend to give answers to today’s problems. Rather, I intend to pose questions on observations that I make on this journey called ‘Life’.  Afterall, a good question is half the answer, right? Please feel free to comment and offer your own insights!
